Much shorter than Dillon 9mm FunnelI think I like it. Just loaded up a new batch of test bullets, two different brands of coated lead bullets sized .356 and .357. Definitely like the "M-style" shape of this funnel, make a nice home for the slightly larger lead coated bullets. Absolutely no scraping of the bullet while being seated, and easier to index the bullet on the case prior to seating. Seemed to crimp nice aft seating, a day at the range tomorrow will be the test.
However... this funnel is a good half inch shorter than the standard Dillon 9mm funnel and my powder die is dialed all the way in just for this funnel to properly flare the case. Don't get me wrong, it still works but absolutely no adjustment left. Epic engineering fail... how do you make this a half inch short?
GET THIS!I just started progressive reloading with my new Dillon XL750 machine for 9mm USPSA shooting (I've been a single stage rifle reloader for over 20+ years) and a friend told me about this powder funnel and that I needed to get it and use it in place of the one that comes with my machine. I did as he recommended and I can't believe how great this is! It doesn't bell the case like a trumpet bell, and instead puts a concentric 'shoulder' expansion on the case. By doing this, it greatly increases the life of your brass by not overstressing the case mouth. Plus, it gives the bullet a much better opening to sit in, and I've found that when I put the bullet in, it drops into the case perfectly and easily. Also, it makes crimping easy since you're not closing a bell you're just pressing a 'shoulder' firmly against the case. I can see how by not overworking the brass it will certainly extend the life of your brass and I've seen a much better and more consistent crimp on every round I've done. Get this powder funnel and you'll see it's worth the very reasonable price it costs!
